Trying to download the azcontrol software installer and it is blocked saying it has a virus.

I have just checked with up to date Windows 11 and (currently) Defender reports no problems. But that flips periodically.

The installer is not signed (that it expensive), NSIS based and the program is compiled by GCC (on Linux).
"Antiviruses" tend to use all that factors to claim they have "AI" which detects not yet known viruses...
In practice, they just continuously report false positives. I am tired by that at work (we have centralized anti-virus monitoring which reports false positives in PDFs and even some text files, several times per day).

I hope one day EU will introduce regulation to forbid such behavior (essentially that is false accusation in attempt to distribute malware). Till then, programmers have no change to do anything (most interesting cases was false detections in commercial software security updates... even in these cases it took days to white-list...).
