[AZ, Cnkrc] Novation LaunchKey Mk1 TTS
« on: October 05, 2015, 03:03:42 PM »
Note: you will need 2 sound cards to use that feature or other way to use default windows sound system in parallel with Sonar. You should be able for example play YouTube while Sonar is in focus.

The preset was created to use the controller without looking at display or LEDs. Text To Speach (TTS) engine is used on place of visual information. It is tested with Sonar 8.5 and later versions. It does not interfere with JAWS. SAPI5 should be installed to use it (included into all modern Windows versions).

Only InControl actions are devined, in MIDI mode all controls still can be used as normal MIDI input.

Installation:
  • Install AZ Controller plug-in first (download the latest release version and run it).
  • Insert AZ Controller in the "Control Surfaces" section of SONAR preferences and attach LaunchKey InControl MIDI Input/Output to it. LaunchKey has 2 sets of port, one (the first) is for normal MIDI, other (the second) for InControl communications. It is good idea to detach it from other plug-ins, in case you have already used it with sonar.
  • Open Cakewalk Plug-in Manager from Utilities menu. Select Control Surfaces, then AZ Controller. Press Import, select the file attached to this post and press Open
  • Open AZ Controller configuration dialog (from Sonar Control bar or Utilities menu)
  • In the Presets drop-down box choose "Launchkey MK1 TTS"

Functionality:
  • Upper squad pads (1-8): in ACT mode audition corresponding knob parameter
  • Lower squad pads (9-16): in ACT mode audition corresponding fader parameter, in Mixing mode audition corresponding strip information, if Shift is not pressed also switch focus to this strip
  • Button under 9th (master) fader: Shift
  • Transport section including loop: without Shift usual functions (Rewind, Fast Forward, Stop, Play, Record, toggle Loop), with Shift:
    • Loop: switch mode between Mixing Tracks, Mixing Buses and ACT
    • Play: audition currently focused strip
    • Record: toggle record arm for currently focused track
  • Previous/Next track buttons: in ACT mode switch ACT banks, in Mixing mode without Shift move focus to the previous or next strip, with shift move WAI to the previous/next 8 strips
  • 9th fader (Master): volume for the first Bus in WAI range
  • Round pads: if there is no plug-in in focus, focus the first synth and then without shift select previous/next preset for current plug-in, with shift focus previous/next plug-in
  • Faders: strip volume in Mixing mode, Fader parameters in ACT mode
  • Knobs: strip pan in Mixing mode, encoder parameters in ACT mode
  • Buttons: in ACT mode button parameters, in Mixing mode toggle strip mute without shift and solo with shift

Note that is quite special preset. In case you do not need TTS, it is possible to use pads for other operations (solo, mute, rec.arm, etc) and use AZ Controller internal display for ACT Dynamic mapping. But there is no such ready to use preset at the moment.
